You’ve read his articles, received his Facebook updates, and most likely, exchanged emails with Dean Spiridon, the Founder of Trapshooting Online.com. But to this point, you may be wondering who he is and why he is doing what he’s doing. So without further delay, below is some additional background information about Dean and a look into what has inspired his creation, Trapshooting Online.com.
Dean began registering ATA targets in 1993 and has since registered nearly 85,000 targets. A four time Amateur Trapshooting Association All-American (1 Sub-Junior, 3 Junior), Dean grew up in one of the most competitive trapshooting states in the country.
“Over the past 20 years or so, we have had at least 10 ATA All-Americans from within 50 miles of my hometown. The weather is usually less than ideal and shooting in our leagues is like playing wiffleball in your friend’s backyards – every club has its own quirks and you never know what to expect. The targets are never consistent from one trap to the next.”
During his career, Dean has won 11 Pennsylvania State Championship events, finished runner up in at least 5, and won countless other class or preliminary events. Some of his other major victories include:
- Three championship trophies from the 1996 Northeastern Grand, in addition to setting the Sub Junior record for high score in the Doubles & HAA events
- Four Eastern Zone championships
- Three Grand American trophies
- and many other victories at the Ohio, New York, Ontario, West Virginia, and Virginia State Shoots, in addition to the Southern Zone and Dixie Grand.
“Trapshooting has been very good to me. It doesn’t owe me anything, in fact I think I owe it quite a bit. The best way I can begin to fulfill that obligation is through this website. I hope to provide the trapshooting community with the web-based tools necessary to improve their skills and enjoy the sport. Trapshooting needs a way to keep the attention of its young participants, including those in the AIM program. I hope we can do this through the development of a trapshooting mobile app, a social network, and various other products that will make their experience memorable.” – Dean
